World Consumer Rights Day: PROGRESSIVE supports the call for fairer and more inclusive digital marketplaces

Posted in News

On World Consumer Rights Day (March 15th), the PROGRESSIVE project is rallying the call of Consumers International for fairer – and more inclusive! – digital marketplaces. Digitalised goods and services must comply with design-for-all principles so that connectedness does not prevent consumers of all ages to take part in society.

The increasing digitalisation of goods and services is bringing both opportunities and challenges especially with regard to accessibility and usability. This 15 March 2018, join our collective request on manufacturers and service providers to address the needs and preferences of all age groups when designing and bringing to the market digitalised products and services.
The PROGRESSIVE project focuses on the standardisation needs and opportunities in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) for active and healthy ageing (AHA). The aim of the project is to set in place a dynamic and sustainable framework where the contribution of standards and standardisation for ICT can be maximised for active and healthy ageing. In a context of an ageing population, the project supports an increasing engagement and inclusion of older people in the standardisation process as well as offer new ways of thinking (around accessibility, usability, inclusion, empowerment, etc.) to improve the impact and influence of standards.
